Hestogynths appear when your back is turned. They hang around hovering over someone’s shoulder for a while before disappearing. Nobody knows where they come from and where they go. Nobody knows what they want or why they do it. They don’t seem to eat or sleep. They simply are, it would seem. Some travelers have theorised that they are an omen of extreme luck, be it good or bad. Perhaps a sign that you will come into great riches, or soon perish. They follow whoever they’ve bonded to, and disappear when they aren’t looking, which usually leads to the so called “luck incident”. An ominous creature to be sure, but a bold adventurer will often welcome a Hestogynths arrival.
